2020 Season Start is Postponed

Dear Lacey Little League families,

- PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT (or two) TO READ THE FOLLOWING EMAIL IN IT'S ENTIRETY -

As we have stated in our previous email regarding the rapidly changing situation surrounding the COVID-19 virus, our first commitment is to provide a safe environment for all of those involved within the Lacey Little League Program. That being said, after much discussion for the better part of the day yesterday (Thursday 3/12) with The District 18 League Administrator, The Ocean County Health Department, The Director of The Lacey Township Recreation Department, and The Lacey Little League Executive Officers we have come to the conclusion that ALL LITTLE LEAGUE ACTIVITIES will be temporarily suspended UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. This action is effective IMMEDIATELY. Additionally, we have been informed by Little League International that they have implemented a temporary suspension worldwide that encompasses all 6,500+ LL Programs, in 84+ countries until at the very least April 6th.

However, from this point on we will be following the guidance of our District Administrator as all leagues within District 18 must be in unison. Therefore, we will be awaiting further direction from the DA on how to proceed. You can expect at the very least, this suspension will last thru (but not limited to) the beginning of April. Please understand that we are not trying to place hype into the media's concerns, but have realized that the potential for spreading this virus could very well be more prominent than any of us believe. It is our hope that we will be beyond the threat and worry of this virus, and back out on those beloved baseball fields soon. It pains me, as well as all of the hardworking volunteers of LLL to have to pass along this information to you all. We have been working tirelessly on our upcoming season, and there is no one more disappointed in this news than us. I can assure you, that at this time we have no plans of cancelling the season, so please refrain from asking questions as such to us. This situation is evolving at a rapid rate in such a way that we are obtaining more information by the minute. We will do all that is within our power to resume our season accordingly, but most importantly we only do so when the threat diminishes. Please understand that we, The Executive Officers of our organization are all 100% volunteers. We will do our best to respond to any questions and concerns, but please be patient with us as we too are all dealing with this unfortunate situation on many levels outside of Little League. I encourage you to email any and all questions regarding this temporary suspension to Little League International by clicking this link; [email protected]

Lastly, we will continue to make necessary preparations for the upcoming season in the interim, so please sit tight as we all ride this unfathomable wave back to shore together. Something also worth noting; our Spirit Wear Store will remain open during the time frame as advertised. The orders that you place will be fulfilled, and distributed to you as originally specified. We strongly encourage everyone to do their part and follow the strict guidelines from the CDC, in an effort to help prevent the spread of the virus so that we can return to some normalcy. Please stay vigilant, protect yourselves, families and friends, be kind to one another, and most importantly - stay healthy! We appreciate your cooperation during this ever so trying time, and will be keeping you updated as more information becomes available to us. Thank you.

Regards,
Ernie Tretola
